Who is the USA’s largest Employer?

October 19th, 2007

And no we are not talking about obesity!

Who is the largest private employer in the USA? Wall Mart is the largest private employer in the USA and as such they pretty much influence the wages and labor practices across the whole area.

Wal-Mart is not confined to the USA either, of 1.4 million employee’s 0.4 are spread around the globe. The question is if Wal-Mart is setting the standards is it getting them right? More than half of their US employees leave their service every single year. You’d think that would be damaging to growth but apparently not as new stores open almost every year.

So why do employees leave and where do they move on to? The average hourly wage is $8 and there is allegedly inadequate pension and health provision.

Wal-Mart has also been the subject of numerous legal battles with people suing them in their thousands. This cannot be good for public image.

Perhaps you are a Wal-Mart employee and wish to join the legions of store leavers. If so check out this helpful CVTips section on how to resign, but if instead you would like to join this global retail network, check out ‘resumes’ for great ideas of how to apply and stand out in a crowd!
