Are job skills the most important factor in choosing a career?

While job skills are important, they are actually not the most important factor in choosing a career. Other factors can have an affect on the choices that candidates make, such as personal and work interests, values, personality type and lifestyle. Values are the things that are important to job seekers, such as achievement and status. Interests can influence a career choice and include the activities and culture that job seekers enjoy on a normal basis. Personality includes the way in which a candidate relates to the world through behaviors and beliefs.
