Besides my interests, how should I choose a career?

When you choose a career, determining your interests is one important step. This can be a clue to what type of career best suits you. However, there are other important factors you need to consider before you choose a career. Your skills are also important to your career choice because they can demonstrate where your aptitude lies. Think back on subjects in school in which you did well or other talents you may have. Another important factor to consider is your values. Think about what's important to you in a job. Ask yourself:

  • Is it important to earn a high wage?
  • Do you want a job that gives back to the community?
  • Is your job title important to you?
