They are employed for the design of minute machinery, the building of manufacturing plants, auto design, and the design of mechanical components for vehicles, shafts etc. Employment can be found in the manufacturing sector in any type of field, military and government institutions.

A degree in mechanical engineering is required.

Work conditions
They work in manufacturing plants, offices and research labs. Working as an engineer in this field also entails a lot of testing of equipment. The work hours are around 40 to 50 hours a week.
