Vacancies in industrial engineering

Working as an industrial engineer entails the design and development of programs and plans to increase the productivity and effectiveness of a company. The industrial engineer assesses lay-outs, work space requirements and work plans in use, and then develops products and plans to enhance the work space usage and productivity. He thus comes up with new ideas on how to perform tasks.

Industrial engineering jobs include employment at construction companies for the design of buildings to accommodate large groups of people. Another example is employment by transport institutions for the lay-out and design of airports and stations. They are also employed by manufacturing entities to enhance workspace usage.

A degree in mechanical or industrial engineering is required as well as further on the job training.

Work Environment
Most of the jobs are in manufacturing plants and offices although some outdoor work may be required, for instance, when a sport arena is planned. Work hours range from 35 to 45 hours a week.
