What are CPA continuing education requirements?

For each accounting professional who has earned his licence, CPA continuing education is of utmost importance in order to maintain this status in any region. During the first year following the earning of the CPA license, no continuing education credits are required. However, in the second year and onward, these credits are mandatory for one to remain licensed. While the actual number of continuing education credits may vary from region to region, most CPA associations recommend a minimum of 20 continuing education credit hours per year. Continuing credit hours can be obtained at accounting schools and colleges or through accounting associations, seminars and other industry-accepted events.
