What are high school teacher certification requirements?

Every state will have different high school teacher certification requirements. Typically, the certification process of your state will go through the State Board of Education. Usually, you will have to gain a certain amount of on-the-job training in the form of being a teaching assistant. Depending upon your state, you may need to take a number of courses beyond your bachelor's degree. Once you have done this, you can then take a series of exams that are designed to test your general knowledge on the subjects you will be teaching and information about teaching specifically. You will also have to take a background test. Once this process is completed, you should be certified.
