What are the basic administrative assistant job duties?

Administrative assistant job duties can include general clerical work, including answering multi-line telephones, preparing correspondence, processing documents and managing schedules on computers. Administrative assistants may also be involved with doing research online, running various reports and keeping the office environment organized. In addition, administrative assistants may provide support for meetings, travel and events involving executive staff members to whom they report. Oftentimes, administrative assistants are the first people that guests see, and so they are required to greet others with a friendly disposition and handle people with poise at all times. Upper-level administrative assistants may also supervise lower-level clerical personnel.
