What are the requirements to become a teaching assistant?
There are several requirements to become a teaching assistant in most regions. Teaching assistants must have an interest in helping children learn in a safe environment. In addition, teaching assistants must be able to closely follow written instructions such as lesson plans and school rules, as well as understand and carry out verbal requests from teachers. Teaching assistants must be adaptable and flexible, able to shift gears frequently, and able to relate to children of all ages, behaviors and learning levels in a positive way. In some regions, teaching assistants are required to have formal education and a certificate or license to perform this work. All teaching assistants must be able to pass a criminal background check to make sure they are safe to be around children.
