Why do my interests matter for choosing a career path?
Your interests are highly relevant when choosing a career path. This is because your interests indicate what type of activity makes you happy and takes advantage of your strengths. Ideally, your career will make you happy and take advantage of your strengths as well.
Taking your interests into account when choosing a career path doesn't automatically mean you'll be doing your hobbies for a living. For example, if you like to read books that doesn't mean you have to become a writer, a librarian or bookseller to enjoy your job. Instead, your interests will fall into a broad category that careers often share. For example, you may enjoy social activities that help people, such as volunteering. You could also be suited for a social job, such as nursing or teaching.
