Free Career and Job Search Advice

Hey guys hows it going ,, well here the situation im 18 and never really had a job ive either been in college or work placements , but im gettin worried that i will never find a job as i have been unemployed for the best part of a year i have been sending my cv and covering letter to diffrent companies with little or no responce , i am well capable of doing any job that is put infront of me and i consider my self to be an intelligent guy ,, im at my witsend and being unemployed is really starting to get to me,, i hate it !

the jobs i wouldnt like to do are customer services roles as i find i get nervous really easy , i would love to work out side or do some skilled labour as i am good with my hand but am also very good with computers too and know most software packages inside out , im a sociable guy and have many friends ,,, i am willing to move away from home or even to a new country if the offer is correct as i see no boundaries in my job search , it just seems weird to me that i am 18 young fit and able to work but yet i cant find a job anywere and im not the only one there are a couple of my friends that are unemployed also ,,, i will paste my cv and if any of you guys could help me it would be most apreciated ,,,

After looking over your resume / CV I see several things that you need to change.

First, is a adding a listing of your skills. You need to incorporate lots of keywords into your resume. Highlight both tangible and intangible skills.

What about your successes in the jobs you have held? I bet you have done something that you can toot your horn about. Whether relevant to the job you are applying to or not, it shows your ability to deliver !! Isn't that what employers want?

Deb is right, your resume, as it is now, reads like a list. There's nothing there to engage the reader. Put down your skills, both tangible and intangible. This is usually easier said than done, so you may want to ask your family and friends about this. Also, list some of your accomplishments, SMA's (Save, Made, Achieved). You need to tell people not only what you can do, but what you have done, and what you bring to the company besides a list of skills. That will be sure to get your resume noticed more often.
