Does anyone know if there are any free resources that can advise on the legal aspects of running your own business? Like, tax and other reporting obligations, who you have to be registered with etc?

Well....it really depends on the nature and profile of your business. There are so many online resources about how to start your own small business, I cannot tell you! Seriously. But your problem is that you also have to do some researches locally and see what the legal background in your country/area is.
In my country, you have to register your business to the local administration. The process is not easy to go through, because you gotta pay for a lot of taxes (even if they are not that expensive, they are many and require you to go here and there and in the other place). After that, if your business functions, you pay taxes, monthly, if not, yearly.

Hi

Although you could run a search and get access to a lot of such resources... it i advisable if you can invest a bit and get a professional to do this... not only you don't have to be afraid, but you can also relax as well that a good job has been done..
