I was wondering if this is to informal/short if I am looking for a job at the local pub..

"I am looking for any waiter job openings at the newly refurbished Anchor Inn, due to be opened in November 2007. Should there be any postings available, I would love to be able to forward my CV to you. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I would make it a bit longer. A cover letter can be a useful marketing tool and a way to elaborate on any skills that you might have. I would try to find a template and use it as a guide to get yourself a good cover letter together.

You should definitely make it a bit longer and give it an appropriate content. You should express you intention, you should mention what you can do for the respective company through your performance at work, you should mention your skills and most important achievements and express also your availability for an interview.
