|
|
Not sure if this is the correct forum for this but I have a tough problem in front of me.
I went through all of the trouble of finding, applying for, interviewing (multiple times), and then finally accepting a job that will require me to move to the other side of the country (USA). I accepted the job several weeks ago and agreed to the salary they offered. I just arrived in the area to look for a place to live and have come to realize that this isn't the right move for me.
Is there any good way to back out of the job offer after having already accepted it? |

Just tell them the truth: You realize this isn't the best thing for you right now. Thank them and apologize for the time they invested in you, then move on.
Question:
Ever see any of "corporate America's" finest "apologizing" to the American people they've throw into the streets?
Their mantra: "Nothing personal. It's just business."
Yes, they'll be all upset but guess what? Just like you and I to do when things don't go our way, they'll get over it. |

Just retract it and tell them you changed your mind and decided it is not the right move for you. I did it some months ago, and while I am wishing I had left now, it was the right thing to do at the time. I know this link below takes you to something about retracting a resignation, but maybe you could use it as a guide for formulating something to retract your acceptance?
Hope it works out.

Just tell them that this is not the right move for you. Bottom line is you have to look after yourself just like the companies always do.
Keep in mind if they paid you any relocation fees or paid to move your furniture...etc, you will probably have to pay for most of it back. |
