sajidmib-
Your qualifications are excellent, the only thing I'd check is to use the word "proven" at some point regarding your specific skills. In the current CV it's a bit of a generalization.
Stock brokerage is tough, and so are the banks. Very competitive environment.
You'll find that the stock exchanges offer courses, which would be useful preliminary work, and add some background.
You may be able to create a niche for yourself with this set of skills. Your IT stuff is particularly relevant, all exchanges are system dependent.
Emphasis is you must be able to walk into an interview with the skills clear.
With training in the brokerage/banking field, and some solid experience, you're on track to a management position. You'd be aware that IT and management are sometimes different languages. A person who can do both is a real asset.
Suggestions:
1. Contact Citigroup direct, explain what you want to do, get a contact name, or preferably a few, over time, send the CV, which is exceptional, with whatever necessary amendments, to Citigroup. Any information from this source will be extremely important.
2. Check out, in detail, any and all useful training you can find in brokerage.
3. Experience is priceless. It really matters, and you do have to know the market pretty well. Any form of direct market experience is very useful, and adds to your claims for a position. Even junior positions lead somewhere.
4. Your credibility in the financial sector will be based on fundamentals. Banking is a science, and you will need to create a career plan. MBA, basic accountancy, whatever's available, and particularly whatever is common to jobs in the field. That will be easy enough, because you'd know the systems.
5. Check out ads for the position you're looking for, or similar positions. Contact the employer, if possible, get answers to any questions you have. You don't even have to apply for the jobs, necessarily, but you need to understand what they're looking for.
By the way, I've used material from Bloomberg and Reuters in my own work, so thanks. In one case Bloomberg was the only news site with a decent feed and proper updates. |
