I have worked for a company for 11years. My recent job position was deleted from the company and I was told that in order to continue working I had to take a job making substantially less money and I had to relocate. Am I eligible for Unemployment in Ohio?

I would think that you are. Usually, you have to work for a set length of time, which I think you are well beyond, and lose the job thru no fault of your own.

Check out the state's website for more info, it might be easier than calling them as the phone system can be ridiculous. Especially on Mondays.

You should be eligible because your job was eliminated and they want you to take a job that is substantially less. You have a right to quit and file for unemployment benefits and should be eligible, at least in PA. I'm sure Ohio is the same. However, given today's economy you may want to rethink staying on at a lower rate. Unemployment is only good for a maximum of 26 weeks unless there is an extension. Then there is nothing. (Ohio may be a little different.) I personally believe there will be an extension later on this summer.

No, I think Ohio is only good for 26 weeks also. If you take it and then look for something better, that is always a possibility. A paycheck is better than nothing at all. But that is only a decision you can make, for yourself and by yourself.
