Hi,I've been working for just over 5 years in the catering trade as a chef.I worked 7 days p/week for these 5 years & only took 2 weeks holiday in these 5 years. My boss has handed over the lease of this public house to a family member because he's got in to financial problems & age.I have agreed to leave this job next week & the new owners are going to run the kitchen themselves with a basic menu.I've told them I'm still owed 3 weeks holiday pay. They said that it has nothing to do with them & it's there Grandads bill to pay me my holiday pay.I'm from Scotland & I'm sure I read somewhere that new employers have to pay off old debts eg staff wages. Is this true, where do I stand....Any help welcome on this topic....thx

It would depend on individual country rules, I am sure. I would be checking those out, and I think you might be right on. As for now, try going to the old fellow and see if you can work out a deal with him or he can spur the newbies to take proper care of you. If you have worked that much for that long, he will probably take care of you personally or see to it that they do, even if they don't like the idea Smile

good luck!
