New jersey Resident

I have applied for unemployment and was granted to me. My former employer just recently appealed my benifits although I just finished collecting all the money that was awarded to me but my previous employer is still trying to apeal my awarded claim.

I know that I can fight them but the drama is so much and they just won't quit so here are my questions.

Do I have to give the money back if I loose my benifits?

What if I find full time employment while my current unemployment benifits are being disputed? Do i have to give the $ back?

I realy apreciate any advice I can recieve.

Gee, what a mess. I did not know they could try to continue fighting it once the state decided in your favor? Try the NJ unemployment website and see if you get any answers.

Yeah, they used a lame excuse to why they did not appeal within the time they were given and those at the unemployment decided to give them a chance anyways.

I went through the same thing here in VA. Employer AGREED to that I could/should receive unemployment compensation. Six months later they "changed" their mind and filed an appeal. According to the Code of VA that's an absolute no-no! But, they did, and they won, and yes, I had to repay the money.

And people wonder why I so loathe corporate America, okay, and the government......

A good friend of mine worked for almost two years with the same company in NY and recently, was let go.

They gave her the paycheck on Friday and told her it's not working out. Same lame excuse about the customers not feeling comfortable around here.

This was a digital printing company with a team of about 35 people, most business done via email online, fax or telephone.

Now she applied for unemployment and is waiting to hear from them.

Is this even legal, they didn't even give her any type of warning or talk, just handed her pay and told her not to come back.

If NY is an "at will" state like this severely backwoods commonwealth of VA then, yes. BUT most companies, even here, give some excuse, or reason, and most make attempts at actually documenting poor performace, lousy attendance, and so forth. Seems to come down to the companies who don't give a damn about ex-employees collecting unemployment and those who seem to think the company has to write the check each week, i.e., the spiteful, petty, and vindictive ones.

You're not bothering me at all. I couldn't find what you're talking about so just email me at randyvaughan@cox.net and we'll take it from there, okay?
