My boss is a jerk, he likes to stress people out to the point that a friend of mine actually committed suicide. Having left no note, or reason why on top of losing a friend we were left with the monster.

I have had several writeups, my boss has it in for me, and he controls the paper. Our Union is quite weak and would never really protect people, in addition they had family members in management. The Union President's son in law is a Manager..

Well I am on suspension right now, and I am pretty sure my boss is going to fire me. So the problem I have is that I might be out of work. If he fires me and claims it was due to all my writeups and poor job performance, will I not be able to get Unemployment? Jobs are pretty damned hard to fight right now, and while I am a certified driver driving jobs are just as difficult as other jobs to find.

Will I be able to get unemployment? I hear if they turn you down the first time you can appeal it and usually you get it. I've never been fired before, and I have never looked for unemployment. Could someone please give me advice?

It's true...if you lose you can usually appeal.

However, if you are able to get proof of this monster's behavior by getting evidence from coworkers you might be able to substantiate your claims and not have to go the second round.

I would start preparing now, just in case.

Listen to lexa!

And it wouldn't hurt to pray that he gets attacked by a face-eating weasel....

Randy! I usually don't pray for weasels, just lightning bolts and houses falling from the sky..... Twisted Evil

All joking aside, you have a serious matter that you have presented here. And cv has laid out a lot of good info for you. I would be prepared for a fight, and start maybe even looking for another job and in your own best interests. This boss sounds like he does not care and could cause additional harm, and there is not any point that may cause the boss to stop. You don't want to be the next victim in any form.

Get out of there. But make a good plan and execute it well. Start looking for a better job.

I doubt it will affect it but that is a negative thing to tell them.
