Free Career and Job Search Advice

I am in a situation where I do not know what to do next.

I have an MBA, and worked in banking for 5 years as a Relationship Manager in Business, Financial Markets, and Private divisions. I absolutely hated the job and I didn't make that much money even though I was always a top performer! I have resigned now and want to do something else, all the job offers I have been receiving are as an RM which is not what I want to do again.

The question is what do I do now? I am afraid I may have been pidgeon holed especially if I try and get a job through my CV.

I enjoy doing reports, planning, research and strategy rather than selling a product or service. I also enjoy working by myself and being flexible.

Many have suggested that I open my own business but again what, also it is a risky time now. My area of expertise is cars and my general knowledge is very high and am well travelled.

Any Ideas on which sector or what to do next?

If you have an MBA, try to get away from things that are so financial based. Maybe you could do business consulting? If you are not sure about what to do next, an idea is to get on monster and search several categories you like and see what kinds of job descrpitions come up that match your credentials that are NOT like your old job. You do not necessarily have to apply to these jobs but it will give you an idea of other jobs that you can seek out and the types of companies you could apply to.
