Hello Everyone,
I was recently terminated from my job. I filed for my UC and was considered eligible. I received the first 3 payments and then the company that I worked for told them that I was fired for my own actions. I noticed that my UC account was inactive and I needed to call them to find out why. So I called and they asked me a bunch of questions over the phone about my termination. After answering all of the questions, the guy from UC ststaed that I am good to go and that I can file for the benefits now. So I filed for them almost 2 weeks ago and the payment still has not came. I also received a letter of determination from the UC that stated they found in my favor and I am good to go. So why is the payment taking so long to go through now?

Not sure why it is taking so long, but they probably had to re-process all of your paperwork all over again like you are a new person. That might be what the hold up is. My guess is that if you are deleted from the database then they have to put all of your info back in.There might also be some form of holdup on the part of your previous employer also.

Well, i received a letter in the mail stating that my former job is appealing the unemployment benefits. It also states that i will still receive the benefits during the appeal process. I feel that I have a very strong case to keep the benefits. I also start a new job on January 28th. So is it worth it to go through with the appeal process?? Any advice is appreciated!

You didn't drop off the books. Somebody probably forgot to take the stop off your claim and your weeks are being held for no reason. I am a former PA Unemployment Compensation Claims Examiner and know what I'm talking about. It happens a lot because the examiners are rushed, expecially at this time of the year. Just call and ask to speak to the examiner and find out for sure. If you can't speak to the examiner, ask for that person's supervisor. If that fails, see my site under Definitions and look at "Squeaky" wheel.

You should go through with the appeal hearing - if the Referee finds you ineligible chances are good that the Service Center will classify you as a fault overpayment, this means you will have to re-pay all of the benefits received or face penalties and possible prosecution.

I suggest that get representation at your hearing to protect your rights.

I guess this would be like re-applying again for unemployment. Be patient, you will get your unemployment. Make sure you save everything the unemployment sends you.

Wish you the best!
