i currently work in a small computer shop but i am actively seeking a new job.

my current employer has started selling illegal copyrighted material, cds, dvds ..etc to certain customers. i havn't been involved in any of the copying / selling of the material but i am concerned that if he is caught it may somehow effect me.

should i consider informing the police? or should i wait till i have found a new job? or should i just forget it completely?

cheers!

Tough decision to make, isn't it?
Listen, I'm not going to tell you what to do exactly, but I'm going to tell you the story of my neighbour, Jason.
Jason was looking for a job and found one in a small computer shop. Literally small, because it was set in a small room of a flat. And they were doing the same thing in there. Selling illegaly movies, music and software. The worse part of the whole thing is that everybody in out neighbourhood knew about that business and more than that, everybody bought items from there (the surface of the business was selling computer parts, but the depht extended to cds). Upto one day when jason came to me and told me he wanted to leave. I asked him why, because he was paid good money. And he said he couldn't take the risk of going to jail for complicity. So he took off. If at first I considered him stupid, after two weeks I fund out the shop was closed and the owners and employees were charged for illegal selling.
So Jason had not make any decision but for himself. Did not called the cops for sure. He just left.

You should think about the fact that there are many places, illegal ones, that you can work in. Bottomline, I would leave if I were you.
