Good for you! Medicine is a great field, as there will always be plenty of work for you to do with plenty of sick people out there that need the doctors and hospitals. Here you are just going to high school and you have already considered being a doctor, that is really something special. Here's some ideas:
1) What kind of people would you like to help? Any specific types of illnesses, or surgery, radiology, or body organs that are needing doctors any idea at all as to what you'd like to do?
2) I'd say go to the library and look through some medical books, check out lots and lots of books there at the library at no cost and see just what is out there. See what you'd like to learn.
3) Start learning about prescriptions and the names and what the prescriptions are used for and the possible side effects, that would be a head start for you.
4) Start doing searches in search engines on words such as cardiology for heart doctor, pulmonary for lungs, surgery, neurology as specialty doctors pay well as bills are expensive.
You may wish to consider being a volunteer or getting any kind of a job to start at a local hospital, when you are a bit older maybe, to see which type of work you'd like to do. |
