IT Specialist (Desktop & Applications) Job Code: IT-Spec-AG
Large Banking/Insurance Client)
You will provide First Level User Support and Help Desk services to all users of the banking/insurance operations in Singapore. You will also administer and maintain Desktop Management for all PC/Laptop, including Software and Patch / Security Management. You are also to assist to operate and maintain Network Infrastructure (LAN/WAN), assisting in administration of existing IT security systems (Firewall, Mail Gateway, Anti-Virus systems, VPN, remote access etc) and UNIX server and implementation/enhancement of all IT security systems.
• Degree or Diploma with 2 years IT experience, preferably in Help Desk / User support
• Extensive knowledge of computer networks (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN) setup and administration; Windows Operating system (Client and Server); UNIX (AIX) or LINUX server system administration
• Knowledge in Checkpoint Firewall, SMTP, VPN, Desktop Management Tools and Insurance will be an added advantage
• Experience with the full range of Microsoft products (Operating systems and Applications).
• Strong customer focus with good interpersonal skills
• Strong team player with the drive to explore new technologies and change processes
• Willing to work on flexible time (after office hours and on weekends, if necessary)
Salary Range: $2,200 - $2,600 + 14 Month Bonus.
Must have good working attitude.

Candidates with above average (or decent) communication skills.
Willingness to work under pressure and during odd shifts.
24X5 onsite support of mission critical applications - downtime of
these applications/systems could have significant business impact
and must therefore be monitored closely.
Working hours are 3 shifts - morning (6am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-6am)
with rotation between shifts every 2 weeks.
Technical skills required are, UNIX shell usage/scripting and
Sybase/ORACLE SQL.
Basic support activities include:
Monitoring or applications/systems, timely escalation of issues, incident/issue logging/ticketing, assisting higher level support teams in resolving problems, release execution, etc.
Taxi commute provided between 11pm and 6am.
Value addition would be a requirement - staff could add value in the following areas : process improvement, automation of manual tasks, documentation of knowledge gained, etc.
Project based training will be "on the job" and learning curve could be steep.
A pro-active approach to providing support and resolving problems is a must.
Must be a team player and will be interacting with team members in
the team, other teams, business users (operation, traders, …) and
Project Managers.
A minimum of 18 months is required in the role/job - a term
agreement would be signed by the associate on joining.
Career progression is based on performance and visibility - the
candidate could move up from a simple support specialist to managing
shifts and leading teams. After 18 months, the candidate is eligible
for rotation to other projects/roles/geographies (including
development).
Additional training could be provided when required and necessary
(e.g.: ITIL).
Support activities are done on all weekdays during the year (including public holidays) and some weekends when required.
Working during public holidays and weekends will be compensated.
Leaves during the first 6 months should be avoided and can be taken only in case of an extreme emergency.
Otherwise, the eligibility is 12 days planned leave per year + 3 days sick leave.
