US

Approximately 4 months ago I applied for a position and went through 3 interviews, but was not selected for the position. I am still very interested in the position and thought about sending an e-mail to the recruiter asking him how the selected candidate is working out for the company. I would like some advice on sending the e-mail, as well as suggestions on the content of the e-mail. Has anyone ever done this before? Thanks.

If you sent a thank you note, and had those interviews, and nothing happened...maybe just do a general inquiry about are they hiring for anything, like....???[whatever you had previously interviewed]. But obviously they did not select you, and if the person did not work out immediately, they might have contacted other candidates to see if they were still interested. I would say let it go and search elsewhere, otherwise you look obsessive and desperate.

I would have to agree...asking if they have similar positions is one thing. But there's really no good way of asking, "so, has the idiot that you were stupid enough to hire instead of me screwed up and been fired yet? Just wondering if you had yet started kicking yourself for passing me over and when you planned on correcting that mistake."
