Hi,
Im new here so i dont know if this is in the right place.
Ok so for a while now i have been considering my future career options and have come to a firm decision that i want to get into car sales.
So far I have applied to Audi and BMW.
Firstly when i applied to Audi i asked them about getting an apprenticeship with them because obviously i dont have experience of it.
They did not get back to me.
I looked around on BMWs recruitment site and noticed it said "we offer support to anyone looking to work in the BMW dealer retail department. I made note that the site said this in my covering letter so that it was less likely to be overlooked.
Sadly this morning i got a letter back from them saying that they could unfortunately not pursue my application as my CV does not closely match the requirements typically advised by BMW.
So im a bit lost here and getting a bit frustrated.
Does anyone know of how to get into this kind of work? |

Hi, I have often contemplated going into car sales. It sounds like you are aiming too high, given your experience and qualifications.
Do you have any sales or any form of work experience?
My advice would be to start by aiming lower. Apply for a position in a less prestigious brand or even a job in a private sales co. This would give you the grounding you need.
Once you have a proven sales record; BMW, Audi and others will be more likely to take you on. |

You could relate some of your job's duties to sales, for example, mention your enthusiasm for helping customers and providing a friendly service.
Apply for as many postions as you see fit whilst re-applying to Audi and BMW, say every year or two. Keep doing it until they invite you to interview and so on. In the mean time enjoy learning the basics and get as much experience as you possibly can. |
