I work with my husband, but our relationship has been rocky. We might well be on the road to divorce. Should I bring this up on my cover letter and/or interview? My last name is in the name of our company. I think that if I don't bring it up, the company will wonder what the scoop is. Suggestions on how to handle this?

Thanks.

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer

The best thing to write in your cover letter is perhaps...maiden name: xxxx and current name: yyyy. Then maybe you can say that I would like to be adressed by my maiden or current name.

This will indicate the divorce situation without actually having to go into detail about it.

Hope this helps and good luck

I understand that you company is still active, but you want to give up and find a new job...

maybe in the letter of motivation you can explain briefly the situation... or if you do have a divorce you can come back to you maiden name ..
or maybe you can just try to find a solution to continue working with your husband, and who nows, maybe you can even start getting along well...
