i need a job but very hard to get one when a lot of jobs do backround checks , i have four beautiful childern but don't want the help of social services went to get out and get my own job exspeacially with the quailifications i have with a 3.5 average at tesst college in the medical assistant program, i feel like that i wasted my time, studing, and the modivation that i haved to get those good grades all i want is a nice paying job for what i've learned thankyou very much for reading my request hopefully something will be done about my sitiuation, Crying or Very sad

You make it sound as if you've not really tried very much yet, that you're basing your presumptions of hopelessness on the fact that employers do indeed ask about past legal convictions.

They do ask, and you should tell them (unless your's is one of those situations in which the matter has been "sealed" by the court). I've found myself working around "ex-cons" all the time. Employers handle these things on a one-on-one basis. In fact, based on my experience with *my* employment history, they are far more understanding of situations such as your's than me having had so many employers over the years.

I.E., there's no reason for you to beat yourself over the past. What's done is done. It's time to start fresh and if one guy isn't willing to overlook the past, the next one will.

One piece of advice: Considering the field in which you're hoping to find work, slow down your typing, do away with the typos, and work on your spelling, grammar, and so forth. Yes, I understand that in places like this it's not that big of a deal, but perhaps without knowing it, you're developing habits, and those can be good or bad.

It seems to me that you've embraced the "No, I can't possibly do this because I have a criminal background" syntagm. Which is not good. I'm also surprised to find out college means a waste of time to you. AApparently you don't know people above 30 struggle now to get a degree because they feel they can't do without one in life...and they are right....a lot of employers make a big deal out of the prospective employees having a degree....ANY TYPE OF DEGREE. Especially you, who are afraid your criminal background will affect your intentions (and acts) of getting a job. Well, be sure it will...but when you have a degree, or you are on the way of achieving it, that criminal background sounds smoother, don't you think?

Amen to that!

Had an interview just a couple of days ago and the gentleman and I discussed that very thing (his son is going through the "getting ready for college" thing). He remarked that from an employer's point-of-view, especially regarding younger folks, a college degree showed that at the very least that person has what it takes to stay with something even when the degree is irrelevant to the occupation.

Yes, the degree thing would be at least some advantage for you and might help out the issue with the criminal backgorund. Obviously, you cannot have much luck if you try to get a job in the same area as your offense. This has to do with background checks, maybe it can help:

ok...now let me tell you something about how one can get a degree. It is VERY EASY! Trust me, it's not a bg deal and I'm sure a lot of you have come to the conclusion that a degree is like a ticket towards Hawaii. You should only go to courses and write some papers. Not to mention if you like the profile you are studying, you can get some nice job in the domain right after you have finished college. You don't even have to go to a college, you can apply to short programms, just get a degree.
There's one thing I hate in my country: the fresh graduates saying "I might as well pee on this degree, as it won't help me get the job I wanted etc etc"...and I immediately tell them "You want THE job and you will get it with your degree and some other skills which you will gain if you train yourself in the field, but you won't get ANY job whatsoever if you don't have a degree".
