Am I able to collect unemployment in NY while receiving financial support from a parent? What are the issues?

Thanks.

Well, what kind of financial support from a parent are you referring to? Like in "I'm living with one of my parents" situation? (So you're not hired, living with your mom, she's paying everything for you)
Because in this case, the two of them (unemployment and parent financial support have nothing in common...meaning they do not cancel one another. You can apply for collecting unemployment but, as far as I know, you can get it for a limited period of time. You have to do some research for yourself as well.

If you're over 18, still in school ( it doesn't matter what kinda school...high school, college, even masters), there is indeed a law which sais you can receive financial support from your parent. But if you're not employed, you can also receive unemployment compensation (even if I think it is only for a specified period....6 months or something like that) so I think the answer to your question is YES.....
Of course....you can wait for the answer coming from an authorized person....I'm just telling you what my situation is Very Happy
