ok... I'll try to make a long story short. Accepted a job offer in January but had to decline a few weeks later due to a personal situation. I didn't explain the situation to the employer, just wrote a letter saying I have to decline the position because I found something better suited for me at the time.
I saw that the job had been re-posted a few weeks ago and I reapplied and was brought in to interview again with the same team. I explained to them that it was a personal situation that made me decline, not a lack of interest in the job or a better offer, etc. Which brings me to the question: What do you think my chances are of getting this job offered to me again? Has anyone ever been in this type of situation before? I got mixed messages on the interview: On one hand they seemd interested and understanding, on the other I got the sense that they had me back in out of mere curiosity.
Thanks for listening :)

Serious thing or mere curiosity....do you care? If you want to get, just get in. Mixed messages are made to be like that to test you as well, correct?
Yet.....your initial letter was saying you are declining the job because you have found something better...is this true? Or did you have family problems, or something like that? maybe you shouldn't have lied if the second one is the real reason....
And yet this is not a time to think about it. Just get the job if you want it and you'll see later. Send a follow-up later in which you thank them for giving you this opportunity and express your intention of continuing interest with regards to the job. If you get it, fine, if you don't, you'll know it.
Good luck!

You turning down the offer and then reapplying makes you seem uncertain about what you want. This is unappealing to some employers because they want an independent, decisive personality instead of someone not sure.

Send a thank you letter and cross your fingers.

I did the same thing, decling and then reapplying when the job was reposted, and ended up getting the job. So, I know this is an old post, but I hope you got the job. I believe that in the end, employers just want the best possible candidate and realize that decisions regarding the changing of jobs is not an easy one to make.
