Hi, Adam,

First, have a look at this cause I find it suitable for you to read.
http://www.cvtips.com/computer_game_designer.html
Then, I really think you should go to a college which will develop and expliot your skills in order for you to become a professional. You see, the IT web designing market is soooooo full of people who think they are good, most of them having no specific education. When it comes to game developers, take into account the fact that you have to be a "multifunctional" person. Meaning you don't just have to design the game, you have to take care of its maintainance and so on. I think that with your passion and some strong education in the domain, you might make it in the field.
