Your best shot here is to approach employers directly, check out what they need. Start with the places you'd really like to work, because the good employers can tell you a lot. This local knowledge is essential for getting this kind of work, because generally these jobs aren't advertised unless the employer's desperate.
UK isn't the greatest place in the world to find work at the moment, there's not much on the job boards, so you're really better off doing it yourself, anyway. Employers try to fill jobs without advertising if they possibly can. It's quicker and cheaper. If you ring ten employers, your chances of finding one in the process of trying to fill a job are reasonably good.
At your age these jobs do still require parental consent, etc, and some employers aren't up to speed or don't know how to hire the under 16s. Next year you'll find getting a job less irritating, but for now, see what you can pick up where you get job skills. That will give you a good work record down the track. |
