Hi all,
I’m a junior at Mercyhurst College in north east Pennsylvania. My major is business and I need to start looking for a business internship to get into this summer. I’m a little bit confused as to how I go about looking for one. My advisor told me that colleges, including ours, usually have a department devoted to looking for jobs and internships for students, so I think I’ll start there.

Another option I’m considering is using a job search site like Monster.com. I’m sure Google can dig up something. Is there anything I should be looking for in particular?  General Electric is a pretty big company up here so I might try for an internship there. Believe it or not, Home Depot is also a big employer in north east Pennsylvania.

This will be my first internship so I’m a kind of lost.  I do know that I want something close to school and I’d like to try and get a paid internship. Thank you for any help you can give.
Sarah

Start looking at larger companies that correspond with your major, as they tend to be the ones who have internships. Google searhces may help, but not sure that they would be the best. Your best avenue may be going to individual company websites and looking also. Ask at the college career center for help also, as they may be able to point you in the proper direction.
