I have always wanted to be part of the medical fraternity, but somehow I have messed up while choosing the right career. I have worked as a medical representative for three years, and then did a brief stint with an insurance agency. I still want very much to go into the medical field. What do you think are my chances? Isn’t my CV too odd for applying in this line?

I am a RN BSN nurse and I am very happy with my work. However, due to sudden ill health I do no think I can continue with my nursing job. Since I love the medicine field, I am trying to apply for a medical transcription job. Do you think my nursing background is sufficient qualification for this job? I am good at typing and am comfortable with computers. Did anyone cross over from nursing to this job? I want to know the pros and cons of this decision. Please share your experience and advice.
Burn out after only nine months as a nurse?
I am working as a nurse in a surgical ward (have BSN in nursing). Not even nine months passed and I feel that I have made a big mistake in choosing this career. I simply hate the job and I don’t think I can carry on this way. The problem is that I love caring for the sick, but I am unable to do this in the present job. Is this a passing phase? Did this happen to anyone else? Should I leave nursing and look for another career?
Please guide me. |

To become a Medical Transcriptionists one does not require specialised IT skills but it requires primary skills like good listening and language skills and knowledge of medical terms. Since you are a RS BSN nurse i don't think you will have any difficulty with medical terminology.
Transcription services range from small, one-person home-based businesses to sophisticated, high-tech corporations which employ transcriptionists. So you can work from home and continue with you nurse job or take it as full time job. |
