To start with, don't confuse yourself with too many options too quickly. You're looking way ahead, and the decisions are much closer. Comments in italics, suggestions below.

A few issues:

1. How do you want to apply the MBA to your IT career? Do you have a position or career path in mind, or are you seeing the MBA as the working proposition for advancement?

2. Bear in mind you need management experience to do an MBA. You'll need to do business admin management degrees prior to that qualification, too. Prerequisites for MBAs can vary, but usually a Masters in Business Admin is the standard.

2)shall i opt for distance-learning MBA programme. If so then which
is best institute for the same.Actually i want to pursue higher study
along with job...so i am looking for this option. So can any one guide me
which stream shall i choose and from which college. And will this distance degree will add any value to my resume. Will i be able to apply for management post in good company like ibm, csc, cisco, wipro etc after successfull completion of the degree.

The important thing is to get a fully accredited set of qualifications. Not all distance qualifications are up to employer standards, particularly when you're talking about big league employers. Find a reputable, well known college for your studies.

Whichever stream you choose, you will need to demonstrate skills and experience in that field. To work with major corporations, you're looking at a super competitive career path, competing with Harvard, Princeton and Yale graduates. You would be at a minimum expected to prove yourself in management before being considered for a job with those companies.

3) shall i go for oracle, cisco, sunmicrosystem etc certification.???

Yes. These are fundamental requirements for progression in this field, and you must have them.

The basic advice is One Step At A Time.

1. You must qualify in the preliminary degrees before doing an MBA.
2. You must have systems certifications to achieve anything in IT.
3. Plan and cost each move.
4. You'll find it demanding to do a degree and a systems certification simultaneously. Get the certifications out of the way first.
5. You must obtain management experience, as well as qualifications to do the MBA. Project management will definitely do the job, but as you can see, that comes before the MBA.
6. Your pre- MBA business studies will take several years. In that time you can both complete your studies and gain management experience by getting your project management position.
7. Your career will benefit from doing these business studies, because your knowledge base will be stronger. You'll have more practical skills, and much better credentials for going for management positions.

Yeah, it's like flying, it's advisable to use a plane, too. Without the certifications, it's a no go. The general career path here is:

Certifications > supervision > project management or middle management.

At some point in the middle management phase you will need those business management qualifications, but check out and see exactly what's required where you want to go in some specialist fields, you may need some and not need others.

The MBA prerequisites usually need those qualifications and management experience, several years of it. That's why I was a bit stunned to see anyone offering a 1 year course, compressed or otherwise. Just getting places for MBAs can be difficult, so they screen applicants pretty hard.

As you know, in IT it's ultra competitive to get the top jobs, and the better your qualifications, certifications and credentials, the more competitive you are. You can also load up your CV with good accomplishments in IT, (some projects are very good CV material) which makes you a higher value candidate.

Fortunately IT’s one field where what you know matters a lot, so your CV can do the talking in terms of your abilities, and your qualifications and certifications take you up the ladder. They also give you a lot more good job options, more portable skills.

You can schedule the certifications and other studies without too much disruption to your work or home life, and you'll be a lot better prepared for the MBA when you're ready for it.

Yes it is, but you need to be absolutely sure that:

1. It's an accredited qualification in your own country and others.
2. The charges are reasonable and workable. (Don't take out a loan unless you're 100% sure)
3. You'll definitely get a positive result from the course or degree.

The basic advice is that you should only do distance education with reputable education providers. Some famous universities and colleges do offer distance education, so check them out first, to set a standard. You can compare them with others, and make a better informed judgment of the value of the courses.
