Hello everyone!

I'm applying for a food and beverage position in a 5-star hotel and I'm writing my CV at the moment.
The position requires from the candidate to be organised. In the relevant skills section I will mention that I'm organised and I'll give example of that. I was wondering is it a good idea to mention the names of a few books about organisational and time management skills which I've read (I haven't actually, but I will do it before the job interview)?

Many thanks

Hello,
I am a 20 yo male fellow, currently unemployed, and I have never had a job before.

I finished college with a course on programing, but honestly, that course didn't teach anything besides knowing the very basics of Visual Basic 2010 and a few things about hardware.
I live in Portugal, therefore I consider my fluent English a very useful quality.

Since Portugal currently is on a huge crisis, it it not really easy to get a job to begin with, but I really do not know what I even want to begin with.
I have been trying to get a job ever since I was 18, and I never could. Nobody accepts my applications.
I'm already 20 years old and I have zero working experience, and the days keep going and going.
I've basically being applying to anything, just to get my own money, but to be honest, I really don't have a "dream" job; something I have always wanted to be/work on.

Due to some stuff that happened to me in the past, namely having to move out of each town every single year due to my stepfather being a teacher who is constantly changing schools, I was always a social outcast and a very shy person, and the only thing I've had since 6 years of until 16 was gaming. Right now, I'm not introverted anymore; I'm over that, and I'm quite sociable, but after so many years of only gaming, I grew without wishing for anything.
I do not know what I want, and I have no passion for anything whatsoever. I could start taking a degree on university, but I have no will to do it, no determination, no incentive for it.
It's like I have no interest for life whatsoever.
But, when it comes to gaming, it's like I have all the attention in the world. I've always been better at gaming than I am at anything else.
Be it theorycrafting, achieving every single thing until I get 100% completion, gearing up every character I have, even carefully planning and reading guides for hours and hours before I start playing a game I have never even played before in my life, that I don't know if I will like, thus making all that planning useless.
So with this being said, I know that I can focus really well on something, but so far, the only things I could have so much determination for are gaming and my girlfriend, who I am struggling not to disappoint with this lack of interest for everything else, but I am starting to think that I will fail on soon.

So, I am not asking for a job in here; I am merely asking if there is a way of actually making money online; something I can make a living of? I don't really mean only gaming, but any way of making money online, in general?
Any advice would be appreciated, and I can consider any constructive cricticism I'm given.

Thanks in advance.

alright. here goes

Let's get a few things out of the way. I am 26 years old, I have a little over 31K saved, and I am currently living at home, my only expenses being my car and cell phone.

-I have my associates degree in Liberal Arts

I've worked in the same retail store since 2006. I was a cashier at first, then a front end supervisor, then promoted to merchandise coordinator. In the fall-winter of 2012, I assistant managed a "pop-up" version of the store that was seasonally open in a mall. I did a good job, and the district manager told me that I'd be given an assistant manager position when it came about.

Well, that opportunity came about in the past month. I was given an overnight manager's position. Unfortunately, it was in a store that's well over an hour away, and unfortunately it's OVERNIGHT. I took the job obviously (I needed the benefits) but after three weeks I'm already regretting it. I work at least ten hours a day, and drive 3 hours total round trip. After sleep added, I've got about 1-2 hours of time to myself a day. Not only that, but my days off are spent in solitude in the middle of the night.

I don't particularly love the job, either. I've just never known what I wanted to do and kept taking promotions for the money. The deeper I get into this field, the more I dislike it. I'd honestly be happier doing something like a garbage man where I can just go in, do my job, not have to think much, and go home. I'd be happy with a job that landed me somehwere in the high 30 thousands. It's all I need to live right now. I know that's strange thinking, but I can already tell that this lost distance/overnight job is going to completely kill off whatever social life I have. I want to buy a condo, and I want to live my life to the fullest, but I don't even see the point in moving out right now if I have no social connections or time to myself because of my job. I don't know what to do, and I'm sure I'm coming off as rambling a bit, but I just need advice. Has anyone else ever been in a situation like this? Should I stick it out at this job, or start looking elsewhere? HELP!

Hi everyone!
I've been debating this question in my head for quite some time now. I currently made videos and short films and have been doing that for the past 3 years. It's something that i've wanted to do, but now I read up on articles and reviews that Film School or a degree in Film/Video Production is not very valuable. So Last year I started playing Minecraft (childish, I know) and created my own server, let my friends join, and started to add plug ins. Throughout that process I started to play around with the codes on the plug ins and found it quite interesting to see what effects it would cause if i modified the code a little bit and found it cool to be able to establish rules and manage systems in the game. I was off of it for about 5 months, but now i'm back and I've messed around created a sophisticated system for players. I've been in college for 1 year now and I was planning to transfer to UNT for a Degree in rtvf, but now i keep struggling with what i want to do.

Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.

A little background:

I have worked for a small produce distributor in NC for about 13 years. I currently make around 60K. Problem is, there is no more room for me to move up. So, the only salary increases I can expect are limited cost living raises.

In Jan 2010, I started taking evening classes at a local college. I just finished up with a BS in Accounting. So, where do I go from here? Keep in mind that I'm 40 years old, married with 3 kids (1 starting college in Fall '13).

After talking to some professors these seem to be my options.

1. Stay where I'm at.
Pro: Safest. Wife's family business.
Con: Hit my ceiling. Awful hours (4am-2pm). Lacking in professionalism.

2. Start part-time MAC program in the Fall '13 at NC State.
Pro: Gain networking. Add another degree. Very good college recruiting.
Con: Cost (2 year cost of 50K) More time away from wife and kids. Age may still play huge factor in finding job

3. Find new job
Pro: More professionalism work environment. Better chance with advancement.
Con: 10-25K pay cut

4. Go for CPA
Pro: Highly sought after certification.
Con: No college recruiting.

I'm sure there are some blends of the above options.

Any advice would be very helpful.

Hi all! I have a decision to make and it has to be soon, but the more I think about it the more I don't know what to choose. I went to a community college three years back for a year and took basics there working towards an RN program. Nursing was/is a good/hot job and since I didn't know what else to do I chose that. After finding out about speech therapy-I transferred to the university in the area and since have completed all my basics and even most prerequisite classes needed to apply to the program. My advisor made a mistake and had me apply to the program this year-after I got rejected she realized I would have to wait another year and take extra classes. Also, I wouldn't be able to go to school for a whole year if I didn't get in because you can only apply once a year and a ridiculous amount of people get rejected because there isn't enough space for most of them. This led me to want to transfer back to the community college and forget the two years of work I have done to just do the RN program. I liked it either way- not as much as speech therapy but regardless it's a great job. I'd graduate in two years. It just hurts to know I did two years at the university for nothing if I go that route. I seriously don't know if I should switch. Your opinion would help!

I have a completely scattered skillset in IT. It's a classic example of being a jack of all trades, but master of none. I am not able to present myself well in the job market because of this. Even if I have more than 6 years of experience, whenever I attend some interviews the relevant experience counts to only 2 or 3 years and my skills may not be up to date with the market demands. Also, whenever I decide to study something or improve my skillset, I get totally confused about where to start and what to work on. I have worked with leading corporate clients globally and in highly professional work environments. But, I lack a lot in the job market. Please advise what to do.
