| About four months ago I was fired from my first real job, I was a police recruit in a police academy. The reason I was fired was because it was believed that I was attempting to cheat on a retest examination. I tried resigning, but was told that they what my employment record to reflect this situation. Regardless of what I say now, it's on my record that I was dismissed for "conduct unbecoming". I'm a 24 yrs. old and have my bachelor's in Justice Studies. Law enforcement has always been a dream of mine, but I am unsure if I can still follow this career path. I have put out many job applications over the past 4 months and have heard back from exactly 1 place, I was offered the job but it's definitely not what I what to do and is not offering the pay I need to survive on. My question is will this issue you keep me out of the criminal justice field, I otherwise have a clean background. Also I am curious what other career fields I can move towards, even though I am lacking professional experience and have my termination on my record? Any help or suggestions would be great, I desperate for help. |

What it looks like from here is that the immediate problem is getting work and putting a life together.
This may not keep you out of the criminal justice field, but you'll probably need a bit of support to get back in, like referees, etc.
I'd broaden the scope of your job search.
The time factor needs to be watched. At your age, you could find yourself in your 30s with this as an "unresolved issue".
That, you don't need.
As I understand it, Justice Studies involves cross disciplinary studies and qualifications. I suggest you check out other aspects of your studies which are transferable to a job or career.
Word of advice about that job offer-
Even if it doesn't pay enough, it reduces the effect of outgoings. It also reduces the size of a gap in your CV. |
