I used an online service to write my cover letter, had 3 people look it over before sending it with my resume... Then the night after I sent put it in the mail, my mother catches a grammar oops... strut budgets instead of strict budgets.

I have a strong resume and a web portfolio showing a few samples of my work... However do you think this typo may have taking me out of the running for a Marketing Coordinator?

Should I write a follow up letter to the company next week checking where they are at in their application process and write a personalized note of why my qualifications meet the requirements of the position they have open and why I would like to work for the company.

The use of a follow-up letter which shows continued interest is always a good idea. Triple spell-check the follow-up letter before sending it out. Here's some reading which might help

I sent my resume/cover letter in the mail on Thursday so they should have received this on Friday. How long or soon should I contact them to follow up on their application process?

I have found the HR's email on the company web site. So instead of mailing in a letter or calling I would like to email her this.. What are you thoughts? How soon should I wait to send this? The ad was first listed in the paper last Saturday (a week ago)

I know it may sound old fashioned, but DO NOT EMAIL unless you are told to. Written corespondence is still the best way of communication with employers unless they request otherwise.

1. the letter won't get lost in the Bulk Mail folder
2. it shows initiative and motivation to prepare the written letter

It also shows that you took the time to write it out, and send it properly.

Like I said, it sounds "old school" but it does work.

Hope this helps
