Hi all!
I just wanted to let you know that you CAN earn money from home... I do it myself 3 times a week.
ELance.com is a legitimate site that matches freelance jobs with freelancers looking for work. You search the listings, bid on jobs you want, and wait to be accepted. SIMPLE!! ELance also handles payments, time tracking, messaging between you and your buyer, and more. I have the free account and I love it! (There are also paid account levels available with more benefits).
I bid on a job to tutor a child in the Middle East. It was accepted and now I teach him 3 times a week for an hour each session. I get $20 per hour as agreed in my bid. This gentleman pays me in advance every month - straight to my PayPal account!
If you are looking for freelance work, use a legitimate site and make some money your way
Check them out at : www.ELance.com |

Thanks for posting this. I work on Elance myself occasionally, and for the writers, I must tell you this is very much an experience you need to have.
Elance also has freelance work across quite a range of telecommuting skills:
Design and Multimedia
Writing and Translation
Admin Support
Sales and Marketing
Finance and Management
Legal
Engineering and Manufacturing
To work on Elance, you have to do a test. You then sign up, create your account, specifying method of payment, put your profile together, and start bidding on jobs. This takes a bit of learning, but it's well worth your while. Elance is one of the oldest, and definitely the biggest, of the freelance sites, and they pioneered what is now common practice throughout the freelance industries.
There are a few things you need to know: Elance does try to keep everything honest, but some people, providers and buyers alike, are a very small minority of nuisances. Problems aren't common, but when they happen, they annoy, sometimes severely.
Which is why Elance is such an important place for people to work. You do get some protection, and you can learn the ropes of the freelance trade in relative safety.
Elance costs money to be a member. You do have to pay to be allowed to bid. It's not much, for a bid a day, but the amount you pay gives you your entitlements to bid, so you can balance your budget pretty well.
You get so many "connects" per month, and you use for example 4 "connects" to bid for a particular job, out of 30 available for the month.
Basic membership is pretty cheap, and for the money you can make, it's no real problem.
You become a contractor, when you get awarded a job. This is a formal process. Most people are cool about it, but I did meet one who wasn't. This is what working with the human race involves, so it's no real big deal, but when the contract comes into the picture you do have to know what you're doing. Elance does have plenty of support materials and advisors for you to ask, so don't get put off by a new experience.
I've had some good experiences on Elance, and one truly lousy one, which was based largely on a clash of perspectives.
Getting used to the bidding is one of the main hurdles. You can lodge any number of bids, and nothing happens, or lodge five, and get five jobs.
Have a look around, check out what's available, and read the info Elance provides. This is well worth investigating, because the money is quite good.
Learn how to value the jobs, in terms of returns for use of your time.

Elance is currently advertising $155 million plus, in terms of provider earnings. There are 80,363 experts on Elance, and there's nothing to stop you being one of them. |

Pauloz,
Thank you for your post! I do have a truly FREE account, which allows (if I remember) 3 connects per month to bid. That is fine with me, as it is all I would have time for anyhow! It also only allows me to bid in one topic area, which is limiting, but I am not really interested in the others, so that is okay too.
On a brighter note, by having such a great relationship with my first buyer, he has now requested that I tutor his older child as well. Same rate, same hours per week. So now I am getting $480 dumped into my Paypal account every month.... for something I consider to be FUN!
He even allowed me to bring his special needs child into my regular classroom at school via web conferencing to participate in a class with my special needs kids. It was truly amazing to see them all working together!
What a great experience... I wouldn't trade it for the world. This man is AWESOME to work for and with. I know for a fact that he uses E-Lance quite a bit, so if you ever get the chance to work for SSID1, take it! And you can tell him I gave him the wonderful referral
On another thought.... to Fitzgerald....
Websites for the Blind.... can you imagine the kind of money we could make if we could create a monitor that utilized braille touch-screen technology on the fly!?? We would all be millionaires! I wish I knew how to make that work... it would truly be a wonderful thing for those special people that really need that kind of technology. It was a great idea, though! |
