The medical field is among the few industries which continue to grow despite the ongoing economic recession hitting the world.

Nurses, doctors, nursing attendants, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, orderlies, and health care specialists continue to be in demand in many parts of the world, particularly in countries with an old population (including the United States, Europe, Canada). Yet, despite that, medical applicants continuously contend with thousands of applicants making this one of the most competitive fields.

The recruitment process requires us to send our resumes. But how can you ensure your application will get noticed and get invited to an interview? With an impressive and killer cover letter and resume.

The Best Medical Cover Letters Inoculate Applicants from an Unsuccessful Application

Your resume can do as far as demonstrate your employment background in chronological order but your medical cover letter can emphasize your strengths in a way that your resume cannot. After all, once you send your application materials, you will have no control over how the reader will think of it. It is imperative for medical applicants to create a convincing medical cover letter.

A Hard-Hitting Medical Cover Letter Lets You Shine

Your own medical cover letter is your only passport to getting an interview. But you'll have to do some impressing, first, before you could even have the opportunity to sit across the recruitment coordinator to expound the items in your resume. How can you get this far in the recruitment process?

By selling yourself!

Emphasize on specific achievements and strengths in your cover letter and relate this to the needs of the medical position you are applying for. Also, do not forget to back these up with concrete examples (do not make up stories).

Show enthusiasm and passion for the job in your medicine cover letter. You can easily describe your experience (if you already have) or show eagerness for the position despite a lack or not having medical experience at all. The reader, who can be physicians or medical personnel, know the challenges in the medical field and that only someone who is passionate about providing service to a multitude of people can thrive in this practice.

Work on Brevity

As much as your recipient would like your full employment discussed in your medicine cover letter, chances are the reader would be too busy to read a letter that is longer than four paragraphs. Your recipient might be a busy hospital administrator who also needs to attend to his patients or other hospital duties. Hence, it is recommended to keep your cover letter to 3-4 paragraphs the most.

Make your introduction paragraph brief but convincing, because, as much as you would like to impress your reader honestly and simplicity still count. You could say: "I am a third-year family-practice resident at [insert program name]. I seek a position as a family practice physician in your practice" (or "in your fellowship program" or "at your institution," as the case may be)."

Be direct in your statements. Instead of saying "I would like to express my interest in the position that is currently available at your practice," write these: "I seek a position as a gastroenterologist at your clinic."

Also highlight your expertise or specialization and follow the same guidelines in cover letter writing.
