These jobs are time and space eaters. You'll need to watch your budget, while traveling, because the pay isn't necessarily matched to your own expenses. Try to avoid shopping sprees until you know what you can afford.
There are some perks like accommodation, big money saver. However, because of the travel regime, you can be gone from home for a while, in and out depending on schedules, and there's a bit of natural dislocation to which you'll need to adjust. Your social life will also need to adjust, not always easy.
Important: The hostess job, of itself, doesn't go very far in career terms without some qualifications. You can get to senior steward, but that's like a supervisory position, slightly elevated from the hostess position. For management, you need business admin and travel industry qualifications.
It is useful, however, in terms of public contact experience, for jobs in the industry. If you made the natural progression to senior steward, with qualifications, you'd have some good skill sets and experience for advancement.
If you want to get into the travel industry, you might do best to check out possible career paths, see what you want to do, then design the career moves to match. |
