I left my resume with a company last Thursday and left a message with the IT director of the company yesterday (Wednesday). I stated I was looking forward to an opportunity to talk about what value I can bring this his company and team. I am eager for an interview with them. Would it be proper to visit their HR department and ask someone when they may be interviewing?

I want to seem pro-active but not pushy.

Thanks for your help.

Why calling the IT director himself? Smile This may sound a little bit pushy, but I wouldn't worry too much. The first thing you should have done is go there in person, before sending the resume by e-mail. I mean, they didn't announce there was anything available, right?

As far as I know, every company must have a hiring desk, open all the time. You should go there in person and ask for a job, bringing out the arguments you have mentioned t the IT director (how you can be useful to the company, what your skills are etc etc). Then, you should leave a hard copy of a resume and of a cover letter, both tailored to the company's requirements. Then, wait untill you are called.

Good luck!
