I guess the number one question that I would ask as an interviewer is "What skills or experience do you have that makes you ready to supervise others?"
There is no blanket answer to this question. You will have to provide out of your own experience. You can also pull from personal (non-professional) experiences to illustrate. Could be something that you did with a non-profit organizition or school.
Hope this helps. |

They will definitely ask you what makes you an efficient manager. Try to keep your answers short and to the point. Use your words wisely. I could send you the '10 Sins of Interviewing' if you're interested. It provides some very essential information and it's free.
All the best on your interview, Kawn. |

Rather than focus on specific questions, which may or may not be asked, its a good bet to remember that regardless of the specific question asked there are four fundamental things you will have to demonstrate when going for a management role;
1)You can lead the team
If u want to lead, you have to look like a leader. Do you look like someone they can believe in? Your interview presentation will be crucial, as is creating the right first impression. Do you have the confidence and charisma it takes to inspire those around you? Can you show it?
2)You are able to get results
A manager is judged on what happens on their watch. Can you demonstrate a track record of building and maintaining teams that achieve?
3)You take responsibility
A manager has to stand up and be counted. Are you the type of person who not only identifies what is wrong but is able to put in action the plans to fix it?
4)You are able to handle people
The people you manage are just as important as the resources, just far more volatile! Work with enough people, for enough time, and you are bound to find conflict eventually. Can you deal with it effectively and keep the team on track towards the organisational goals?
Think about how you can show you fit the bill in these areas, and you'll be fine. |
