I am a 30 year old stock broker recently joined a new firm. The pressure is huge at work. In the begining everything was normal but now I seem to be the victim of all the jokes. In the begiing it was OK, kinda like the attention but now it is getting annoying and has spread out of control.

I would like to assert myself again, I am afraid that my career will be going down the drain if this keeps going on!

Is bullying allowed at workplace! Yes it is if the bosses allow it and some see it happen and do not lift a finger.

It seems big bullies are everywhere. It shouldn't happen anywhere, but it does everywhere. It shouldn't be a problem in the work place, but it sounds like it is where you work. What are they bullying you about or picking on you about? How do you react/act when someone picks on you? It's how you act that can prevent them from keeping to pick on you. Act like it doesn't bother you if they pick on you. Just simply ignore them and that type of behavior should stop. And if that does not, say it in some proper English grammar words to ask them something in a nice way to please let you get back to your work, and that their harrassing/bullying behavior is preventing you from working effectively. If that doesn't work, send your big brother or your Mom and Dad after them.

I used to work for SBC (a telecomunications company) I was treated with such disrespet as an employee by managers, senior managers etc... That I left my job. Here is my advice...

DO NOT EVER work for a company that treats it's employee's like trash

LEAVE that JOB and find BETTER.

There is always something better, a better opportunity,a better company, and better BOSS!

Hi ! I admit I haven't been in your shoes ... but i'm trying to imagine how it must feel ... and I bet it's not a very nice feeling ! Rolling Eyes
Look at it this way ... it's probably something they usually do and now it has become a habit ! Try to fight it ...you have become their target and that's not good because in a way that proves a lack of respect . If they didn't get it so far that you respect them and that you are pro and you want to be treated like one it means that they are a bunch of big babies !
Considering the fact that they are a majority , complaining to a higher boss might not help you at all ... Confused If you are not interested in making friends there , it's ok...but tell them straight to their faces that all of you are there to work and not to play pranks ! And because of that and because you respect them as your co-workers you expect them to treat you with the same respect you have proved towards them ! Very Happy ...Sorry for this long reply ! I hope I haven't bored you ...
