Hi there!

I really want to apply for a job which would be perfect for me - however, at the application stage, they are asking for references. Simple you may think...

...I havent given notice yet at my current job (I HAVE to give 2 months Sad ), my boss is a total dinosaur and a) wouldnt take it well and b) wouldnt give a reference due to this. Not an exaggeration, really.

I have been here just over 3 years so feel I would struggle to gain another position due to a lack of work references. Unless I totally nail the interview (ho ha!) I cant see another way out.

Anyone else been in a similar position or anyone with any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You do not have to give your current boss as a reference. Are there coworkers or other personal references you could use? This could solve the problem concerning references.

Really, a boss may ask that you give a two month notice. But unless you are signed into a weird contract of sorts, there's no reason why you should worry about it otherwise.
