Writing a CV is a daunting task so I thought I'd share some of my thoughts with regards to the options.
When I was writing my CV I did some research and realised I had four options :-
1) Write it myself - this is hard work and you need a lots of different skills
2) Get a CV writer to do it- do you trust them. I had one made and it was crap.
3) Buy a template and fill it in- a good option but you need some techy and wordy skills.
4) Use an online CV generator to do the hard work - the techy skills aren't needed - you can focus on the words !!!
I used an online generator in the end www.cv-genie.co.uk - I even have an online version. I did try to write a CV myself at first using http://www.cvtips.com/how_to_write_a_CV.html but it was a nightmare. If you have the technical skills to wordpress and design effectively you might be successful.
I wanted something cost effective that would give me the best chance on every application I found the automated route pretty good. My sister used a CV writer - it was a bit of a mess with spelling mistkaes and the like - maybe she went for a cheap one but how do you know?
I now get interviews every week and can change my CV whenever I want. I don't like working with Word so it's great the CV design hasbeen taken care of. What I did realise is that my curriculum vitae is only the first step, but it is one of the most important, it actually sets the scene to how much money you can ask for.
Good luck to you all. |

I'm a big fan of CV templates, however i disagree it takes several skills to construct a good CV yiurslef, you just need to know how to do it and remember to always make your CV as relevant to the job you are applying for as possible.
I have plenty of tips on how to create effective resumes/ CV's on my Website.
