|
|
I am a engineering degree holder and have around 2 years work experience currently, one year working as a technical support in India and now one year working as a marketing executive for a travel TV channel in Dubai. Since my intention is to shift focus from engineering and move into management and since I am interested more in the travel and tourism industry, I have decided to pursue Master of International business from an Australian University here in Dubai, which is accredited by both the Govt. here as well as the Australian Government. Pursuing an MBA was the preference, but due to lack of 3+ relevant managerial experience, high tuition fee and requirement of GMAT, I am not too keen on this option. My questions are:
1)I would like to know if an MIB degree is almost as good as an MBA in terms of career prospects generally, around the world?
2)Can an MIB degree holder apply for all jobs that require an MBA degree holder and hope for success?
3)What are the jobs that an MIB degree holder with my kind of experience get into right after the degree?
Thanks in advance |

Both degrees are recognized internationally. Some countries are more familiar with one over the other, but you most likely will not be limited in your career prospects to a great extent either way.
I suppose the degree you choose to pursue also depends somewhat on where you intend to work and the kind of work you are interested in doing.
Depending upon the school you attend and the length of time to complete the degree program, you may incur similar expenses either way. Having taken the GMAT, I can tell you it's no picnic. I can understand wanting to avoid that. Regardless, compare the costs of both programs - then consider where you want to work and what program is most likely to get your foot in the door there.
It is not possible to say one is better than the other unless all the other variables are considered, as well.
If you need more information, just let me know. I am no expert, but I will do everything I can to help out.

Hi,
I have recently done my MBA & have four years of work experience in Saudi Arabia. Currently I am working in Dubai. Throughout my work experience has been in Finance however my true interest lies in Tourism/ International Culture & Business Development.
Can you tell me after acquiring an MIB what kind of job/ career possibilities would open up for me. Furthermore, which sectors would welcome me?
Hope to hear from soon.
Thanks & regards
