You will need accreditation in web design, and to complete a course. You'll be pleased to hear that with those qualifications you won't need to do much to get the required qualifications in web design. You've already done most of what's needed. Your degree will give you exemptions in about half of a standard web design course.
Basic web design and development includes primer level programming, but more relevantly, it also includes the ranges of web design software and commercial packages, databases, etc. Nothing complex, but there's a lot of it, and you need to know how to find your way around the big variety of materials.
This is a basic online web design course, containing the standard materials, chosen at random:

Very basic, very simple, slightly expensive. As you can see, there's nothing particularly difficult about it, nowhere near the level of your MSc, but the design and client components are the real issues outside the technical materials. Shop around, try and find something which provides the best scope and best range of skills and certifications.
You will need certification in web design as part of any job application, but at your level of studies that's almost a formality. The real issue will be getting plenty of experience in actual web design, learning the various formats, etc, and this is likely to require an internship, as well as the qualifications.
You've definitely picked an interesting career. Web design is super competitive. This is a huge money industry, and demand is growing all the time. At advanced levels of web design, particularly applications, you can also start looking at intellectual property rights, and other additions to your salary. |
