|
| I started a job a month ago and realized after a few weeks that it was not the right fit. I inquired about getting my old job back which I am. I am concerned that if I give my new job 2 weeks notice they will not keep me on for the 2 weeks. I have a letter prepared explaining the circumstances and do not want to burn any bridges, but I feel I will, even though it is unintentionally. Since I am not engaged in any projects how much notice should I give them? |

| My opinion is that 2-3 weeks are enough in this situation because in this way they could come with a better offer for you if they want you to stay or finish all the "papers" regareding your position.Watch out for this situation to not chase up two rabbits and not catching a single one, meaning don't quit this job if you aren't certain of the future one. |

So how the thing go?Are you still there on your old job or you've found a new one?
Did our tips and advices helped you somehow?
I'm really interested to see if your old company offered you a better salary or not, because many employes are in your situation and might find helpful your example. |

put the onus on them,to do the right thing or not.make sure to give the notice and reasons, and if they let you work to the end, then fine,if not, then you are back to the old job 2 weeks faster.you have nothing to lose,it is ok to make mistakes as long as it is not a way of life.
best of luck to you.

2 weeks notice sounds like you're still in the "probation" period prior to confirmation.
In Singapore, most companies have a probation period of 3-6mth. And prior to confirmation, the notice period is usually about 2 wks. This probation period gives the employee and employer to evaluate the job position and the satisfaction of that position.
If you are not happy about job, no point hanging on for too long.
U can tell them saying that you don't feel its a good fit for you and a company that you were being interviewed for prior to getting the current one just made you and offer which you feel its more suitable for your career prospects.
just my 2 cents |
