Hi all. CareersKerry here.

I'm brand new to the site and looking forward to talking careers and jobs with you all.

I work as a journalist for The Guardian's careers site and on the careers forums too: http://careers.guardian.co.uk

I've been working as a journalist for five years working for student culture magazines, fashion and music mags, a regional newspaper and now for a national newspaper website.

I'd love to talk to other media types and aspiring writers about their own experiences.

Hi careerskerry and welcome to CV Tips!

I'm a pro writer. I work on sites all over the world. A quick intro to how we work and general issues is on the Sticky polls on the Introduce Yourself thread, which you've probably already seen.

If you want a really good look at news in the raw, we've got it. This recession is like a bushfire, and a lot of people are getting singed.

Career advice and CV checking tends to be the more complex stuff. We also do some basic protection of members from the usual net garbage. The Under 18s thread is also a pretty revealing insight into the job market, and the brick wall a lot of British kids are hitting. I've been scouring the UK job boards, and it's looking really tough.

You'll notice we put a bit of emphasis on telling people the strictly according to Hoyle version of labor laws, etc. As a pro, you'll appreciate how much of an issue that can be, particularly with the scam/ spam situation.

I started on the site in 2007, and the whole picture has changed since 2008. We've gone from job problems and basic job hunting to these really hard times people are experiencing globally. Talk about human interest...

Speaking of experience, thanks for your constructive comments on the work experience post. Exactly what we need, perspectives and depth. We've got a few industry pros writing on the site, and that really does help, a lot. These people need all the help they can get.

Thanks Paul.

Let me know if I can ever help with anything - career feature or advice wise - on here.

Obviously working in the media, that's my specialist field. But I have some good contacts in many other sectors too.
